Extra police deployed on tube network in London after stabbing incident

More police officers will be deployed at London's Tube and train stations following a stabbing which is being treated as a "terror incident", SkyNews reported.

A house in east London is being searched by police officers investigating the attack at Leytonstone underground station.

A man wielding a large knife apparently shouted "this is for Syria" before attacking members of the public near the ticket barriers on Saturday evening.

Video footage obtained by Sky News shows police officers trying to subdue the suspect with a Taser several times before they successfully bring him to the ground.

The 29-year-old was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is being questioned at an east London police station.

The extra officers deployed will be both uniformed and plain-clothed, said British Transport Police.

Assistant Chief Constable Mark Newton said: "The safety of the travelling public remains our top priority.
