
The Federal Security Service of Russia suppressed the activities of the interregional criminal group that organized the smuggling of weapons from the United States through international mail.
This was reported by the Public Relations Center of the Federal Security Service (PRC) of Russia. "In Moscow, Yoshkar-Ola, Irkutsk and Ulan-Ude smuggling ammunition Russian citizens detained," the PRC said.
Two machine-guns, two American-made assault rifles AR-15, eight pistols and revolvers of foreign and domestic production (Glock-17, Glock-19, Colt 1911, Mauser, TT, Nagan), seven foreign and domestic carbines and rifles, as well as a large number of cartridges, main parts and components for various types of small arms. The activity of two clandestine workshops for the modernization of weapons was terminated.
Investigative units of the FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia initiated criminal cases under articles 222, 222.1 and 226.1 of the Criminal Code (Illicit Trafficking in Arms and Smuggling). "At the present time additional investigative measures and investigative actions are being carried out to procedurally fix the illegal activities of members of the criminal group. Measures to block the supply channels from abroad continue," the FSB added.
