Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Dr. Abdullatif Al-Zayani condemned the "terrorist" attack which targeted the motorcade of Egyptian Interior Minister Major General Mohammad Ibrahim earlier Wednesday. "This is a coward terrorist act that contradicts all Arab and Islamic values," Al-Zayani said in a press statement, expressing full support to Egyptian government's efforts to counter terrorism and restore security and stability. Al-Zayani voiced confidence in the ability of Egyptian security bodies to quickly arrest and bring to justice all perpetrators and plotters. Egypt's interior minister survived an assassination attempt unscathed on Thursday when a car bomb blew up next to his convoy and gunmen strafed his vehicle. Nearly 22 people, including 10 policemen, were injured in the attack.
