Georgia, Russia to discuss resumption of air link

Representatives of Russian and Georgian transport ministries and aviations agencies “will discuss restoration of regular air link between the two countries,” Georgian prime minister’s special envoy on Russia, Zurab Abashidze, told a news conference in his comments on the statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry’s spokesman. On Monday Alexander Lukashevich expressed Moscow’s readiness to hold consultations on air link with Georgia. Abashidze, in particular, noted that “resumption of regular flights will allow to make the air link between the two countries broader and more active and to reduce prices for airline tickets that are rather high as charter flights are carried out between the two countries.” Lukashevich said “our transport agencies and ministries are ready to hold a separate conversation with Georgian counterparts on transport issues, first of all, those related to the air link.”
