
Hassan Rowhani, reformist-backed presidential candidate, is continuing to lead the Iranian election with more than 8.4 million votes. Rowhani received around 51 percent of 16.7 milliion votes counted so far, Iranian ministry of interior said on Saturday. He is followed by Tehran Mayor Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf with more than 2.5 million votes (15.3 percent) and top nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili with more than 1 million votes (11.3 percent). Interior minister said, the counting will end on Saturday, while the turnout is currenly more than 70 percent. Except for the only reformist candidate Hasan Rowhani, the remaining candidates are conservatives close to Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Khamenei.
