Iranian Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Salehi extended congratulations to the Libyan National Transitional Council (NTC) over the victory of their revolution, the local satellite Press TV reported Tuesday. During a telephone conversation with the NTC Chairman Mustafa Abdel Jalil, Salehi congratulated the NTC over the fall of the Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, the TV quoted a statement by the Iranian Foreign Ministry as saying. Salehi and Jalil also discussed the latest developments in Libya and called for closer ties in all areas, said the report. The rebel fighters captured Gaddafi's Bab al-Azizya compound last Tuesday in the capital Tripoli, forced the Gaddafi forces to withdraw "tactically".
