Japan support US proposal to reduce nuclear arsenals

The Japanese government on Thursday voiced support to the proposals of the United States President Barack Obama to reduce by third strategic nuclear arsenals. “The president demonstrated positive attitudes to further nuclear disarmamane tand nonproliferation,” Chief Cabinet Secretary Minister in charge of Strengthening National Security, Yoshihide Suga, told a news conference in Tokyo. “Japan will support this position of the United States.” “Japan is the only state in the world, which survived nuclear strikes,” he said. “We hope that other nuclear states will follow the United States’ example and the new tendency towards disarmament and nonproliferation will gain momentum.” On Tuesday, delivering a speech in Berlin, President Obama proposed to reduce the role of nuclear arms in the US defence sector.
