
The Lebanese President, Michel Suleiman, met today with Baroness Ashton of Upholland, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, who is currently visiting Beirut. The National News Agency of Lebanon reported that the meeting dealt with the current situation in Lebanon and the region, especially the Syrian crisis and the issue of displaced Syrians in Lebanon and the nation's relationship with the European Union. According to the Lebanon Daily Star, Ashton arrived in Beirut on Monday to hold her first meeting with caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati. She is also holding meetings with caretaker Foreign Minister, Adnan Mansour, and Speaker Nabih Berri during her visit.
