The Palestinian Foreign Ministry urged on Sunday the international community to shoulder legal and political responsibility towards the Palestinians and take political moves to put into effect the two-state solution.
In a statement, the ministry said the Israeli government led by Benjamin Netanyahu continues settlement schemes aiming at swallowing more Palestinian lands and linking West Bank settlements with each other.
This policy aims at torpedoing the two-state solution and closing the door for good before any chance to set up an independent and sovereign Palestinian state, the statement warned.
Israel's settlement escalation is an unprecedented move to block US efforts to revive Palestinian-Israeli negotiations, especially ahead of projected visit of US presidential envoy to Middle East Jason Greenblatt's visit to the region, the statement said.
