Greek Orthodox Patriarch Bartholomew expressed support for Pope Francis's prayer for peace in Syria and said "We will pray for peace in Syria with Pope Francis." Bartholomew said on his visit to Estonia that he welcomed the day called by Pope Francis for fasting and prayer for peace in Syria, in the Middle East and in the world. "We hope that politicians will not decide to launch a military intervention against Syria which will result in the killings of innocent people," he said. Bartholomew expressed hope that world leaders would come up with a peaceful solution to the crisis in Syria. Pope Francis called on all Christians to join a day of fasting and prayer for peace on Saturday.
