The State of Qatar stressed that Israel is an occupying power that does not believe in two-state solution and considers itself above the law and violates all international resolutions and laws, stressing that continuing the violations and crimes committed by Israel against the Palestinian people are major obstacle to the peace process in the region.
This came today in the speech of Qatar, delivered by HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Office in Geneva Ali Khalfan Al Mansouri, during the interactive discussion with the UN Special Rapporteur on Palestinian territories occupied since 1967 within the 34 session of the UN Human Rights Council.
HE the Permanent Representative said that Qatar condemns the Israeli law on the legalization of settlements, which is considered a flagrant violation of the relevant laws and international conventions and resolutions, especially UN Security Council Resolution No. 2334 and a violation of the Israeli law itself, as well as a violation of the rights of the Palestinian people.
The Palestinian people was forced to live under the "apartheid" regime applied by Israel, he added stressing that this calls the international community to hold accountable the Israeli officials and leaders. He added that the State of Qatar strongly condemns what has been reported in the UN special report on the human rights situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, that two million people in Gaza Strip are subjected to collective punishment and unjust siege.
In this respect, The State of Qatar called on the international community to take the necessary measures to ending the siege and opening the crossing to facilitate delivery of humanitarian assistance and expedite the reconstruction process, reiterating its firm stance towards the Palestinian issue, and full support for the rights of the Palestinian people in ending the occupation, self-determination and the establishment of fully sovereign independent state with its capital in East Jerusalem, on the borders of 1967, according to a specific timeframe.
HE the Permanent Representative voiced the State of Qatar's condemnation of Israeli authorities' denial of access to the occupied Palestinian territories for the Special Rapporteur of the United Nations on the situation of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories, in order to implement the mandate entrusted to him.
