Russia’s defense ministry has publicly opened the black box of the warplane shot down by Turkey last month, Sputnik news agency reported on Friday.
The flight of the downed Su-24 jet lasted approximately 40 minutes, the Russian Defense ministry said Friday.
"The memory module located in the protective casing consists of an array of 16 chips, which are soldered into the unit. It can register up to 20 hours of flight. The plane's last flight lasted approximately 40 minutes," Col. Andrei Semenov, head of the Russian military’s information and analytic department on flight safety, told reporters.
Sergei Dronov, the deputy head commander of the Russian air force, said the device was being analysed "openly for the Russian and international public".
"We have sufficient evidence that proves that the Russian aircraft did not violate Turkish airspace," said Dronov.
