Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry received on Sunday a phone call from his American counterpart Rex Tillerson as part of sustained coordination between the two countries, said Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid.
Talks covered a set of issues of mutual concern and means of bolstering bilateral relations. They also addressed regional conditions especially the situation in Libya and the future of political talks in Syria.
The spokesman said the American top diplomat renewed his invitation to Shourky to take part in a ministerial conference for the countries participating in the international coalition against Daesh. The conference is set to kick off in Washington on March 22.
Shoukry on his part welcomed participation in the meeting.
