
President Michel Sleiman discussed on Monday at Baabda Palace with his visitors a number of political, governmental and security issues. The President discussed with outgoing Prime Minister Najib Mikati current issues on the domestic scene and the cabinet work at this stage. Sleiman also discussed with Prime Minister -designate Tammam Salam the new cabinet formation and the outcome of the communications and consultations related to that. They also highlighted the importance of joining efforts and presenting concessions and sacrifices to confirm the new cabinet formation that enjoys the most public and political support. The President also discussed with Caretaker Minister of Finance, Mohammad Al-Safadi, and the situation of the State Budget and the importance of easing the issues related to the ministries, administrations and institutions, especially at this period. Separately, Sleiman was briefed from Caretaker Minister of Interior and the Municipalities, Marwan Charbel on the security situation in general ,and the information available over Daraya incident yesterday. Sleiman stressed the need to intensify investigations to discover the parties that stand behind the group who was preparing the explosives. The President was also briefed from State Security Chief, General George Karaa, on the steps that the Directorate is taking to prevent and control any violations. Sleiman also welcomed in Baabda, both Beirut and the North lawyers' Deans , Nohad Jabr and Michel Khoury respectively , with talks reportedly featured high on the issues related to justice and the proper functioning of the courts.
