Ankara - Anadolu

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said, "if there was any violation to the border as a real threat for national security again, Turkey would respond". In an interview aired Wednesday, in his comments on Hasan Rowhani who was elected as Iranian President, Davutoglu told Al Jazeera that "We hope that the new Iranian administration will understand the situation in Syria better than before, they will listen to Syrian people more". For the stabitity in Iran and Iranian foreign policy on Syria, Davutoglu added, "We want to see a stable Iran as a neighbor and we want to cooperate with Iran for regional stability, but at the same time, we hope that Iran will understand the situation in Syria and the region, and will act and contribute". Critiziing international broadcasting corporations regarding ongoing protests for Gezi Park, Davutoglu said "I was shocked when I saw CNN International or some other international reporters, they used gas mask during the day when there was no tear gas being used, they broadcast as if there was a war. While, on the same days, thousands of people were being killed in Qusair, Syria, there was no coverage at all". For US statement regarding chemical weapons in Syria, Davutoglu said "As Turkey, as a neighboring country we had our own investigation, we had several cases, incidents where we suspected that chemical weapons were being used and there was a special research on injured people and we also found strong evidences regarding the use of chemical weapons." Davutoglu added, "Therefore the statement by the U.S. was not something surprising for us. We hope that international community will act decisively on that issue." Upon the question of whether there was a competition among "Friends of Syria", Davutoglu said, he had participated in the Syrian National Coalition's latest meeting and told the participants that Syrian people will determine the future of Syria. Davutoglu said, "as Turkey we don't support anyone, we are not against anyone. Today is the day for solidarity, solidarity with the victims, with the oppressed people of Syria, with women and children who lost their families. It's not the day of competition." Upon the question on NATO stance on Syrian crisis, Davutoglu said "NATO is a defense organization, therefore in several NATO meetings, we raised the Syrian issue because of the threat to NATO zone. At the end of the day, if there is a strong international commitment for humanitarian support and social support for Syrian people and a strong voice in political sense from UN and a real assistance for opposition on the ground, I don't think there will be need for NATO, Syrian people can solve it on their own." About the need for NATO on Syrian issue, Davutoglu said, Syrian people have proven that they were a strong nation and they could do their own transformation, what they need was a real assistance to prevent this aggression of the Syrian regime. Regarding Turkey's intervention against border violations, Davutoglu stressed that if there was any violation to the border as a real threat "for our national security again, of course we would act and respond." For May 11 Reyhanli blasts, Davutoglu added, Reyhanli was a terrorist attack and we established certain linkages with the regime and now we were collecting the evidence. About the possibility of fall of Aleppo to the forces loyal to Assad regime, Davutoglu said, "I think it will be a huge mistake. If they do such a mistake, I'm sure there will be a huge resistance." "Qusair has alarmed all of us, it was tragic. After Qusair you can see both American statement being more serious and yesterday Mursi's statement was important. Now if Egypt makes this statement because of Qusair against Hezbollah, it means Syrian regime is getting more and more isolated." said Davutoglu, adding, "Therefore, I don't think that such an attack in Aleppo will be without any response by the international community, neighboring countries. Such a humanitarian tragedy being repeated in Aleppo will create a huge reaction." Turkey to take side with Malian brothers, said Davutoglu Davutoglu came together with Mali's Foreign Minister Tieman Coulibaly on Wednesday in the head office of Turkish Foreign Ministry. After the session, the two counterparts penned a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) concerning the development of the cooperation between the two countries and also developing the cooperation between diplomacy academies. Davutoglu stressed that conciliation days were waiting for Mali, and Turkey would take side with Malian brothers in these days. Davutoglu also said that Mali was the country in which he was falling in love, and added, "The damage of cultural heritage should be replaced in Mali, particularly in Timbuktu, and Turkey and Mali should work together to replace it." -We trust in Turkey- Malian Foreign Minister Tieman Coulibaly also stressed his gladness for the session, saying, "We do need your back up, and experience, and your commitments to build up the stable peace in Mali." Coulibaly also emphasized that the penned agreements would give acceleration for the relationship between Mali and Turkey. "I am also thankful for Turkey's support to the training of our soldiers," said Coulibaly. -Foreign Ministry is glad for initial settlement- Turkish Foreign Ministry also stated its pleasure on Wednesday for the the initial settlement of presidential election and peace talks in Mali. Turkish Foreign Ministry considered the initial settlement between the Mali administration and Touaregs as a significant step for the stability of Mali.
