Turkish fighter jets intercepted by Greece in another airspace violation

Greek war crafts intercepted two Turkish jets on Friday after claims they breached airspace borders, London-based Daily Express reported.

The breach comes just weeks after Turkey brought down a Russian fighter jet for allegedly breaching its own airspace. Russia denies any violation.

A radar was fixed on two Turkish F-16 fighter jets according to the Turkish General Staff when the jets entered the zone over the Aegean Sea.

Turkey refuses to recognize a 10-mile airspace zone around Greek islands, which led to 1,233 airspace violations so far this year, 31 of which took place over Greek territory.

The Turkish General Staff said in a statement: “The Turkish F-16 fighter jet was conducting a training flight over neutral waters.

Intruding flights over Greek territory have more than doubled in 2015, compared to the previous year.

Last month Alexis Tsipras lashed out at Turkey over "violations" of Greece's air space, accusing it of creating an "outrageous" and "unbelievable" situation over the Aegean Sea.

The Prime Minister Tweeted: “Fortunately our pilots are not as mercurial as yours against the Russians.
