Peace negotiations on the settlement in Afghanistan that were due to have taken place in Doha, the capital of Qatar, have been postponed indefinitely, sources close to the negotiating process said. On Wednesday, the US Department of State said a trip to Qatar of US special representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan James Dobbins was postponed. According to local observers, this is connected with a statement of Afghan President Hamid Karzai, who said the Afghan government would not join the peace negotiations in Doha until the negotiations were “completely Afghan”. "The talks will be possible when only Afghan parties will take part and the country will put an end to violence," he noted.
