The Pentagon confirmed that Russia's S-400 air defense missiles are operating near Latakia in Syria.
Speaking via teleconference from Baghdad, Pentagon Spokesman Army Col. Steve Warren “We assess no change in Russian intent toward coalition aircraft, and we expect Russia will continue to abide by the memorandum of understanding,” he said, referring to the recent US-Russian agreement to protect the airspace safety of US and coalition aviators.
The United States focuses on defeating Deash and supporting opponents of Syrian President Bashar Assad’s regime, he said, noting that the Russians have vowed to fight Daesh elements.
