Yevkurov elected head of Ingushetia

Yunus-Bek Yevkurov is elected Ingushetia’s head. His candidature was supported by the republic’s 25 of 27 parliamentary deputies in a secret voting. Two deputies voted for Uruskhan Yevloyev, and Magomed Tatriyev failed the election. According to the federal law, Russia’s subjects do not have to organise direct elections of their heads and may substitute the procedure by voting of parliamentary deputies. They will have then to choose from the candidatures presented by the country’s president upon his choice from the candidatures political parties had offered. This is the approach Ingushetia has preferred. Yevkurov’s inauguration is due on Monday, the republic’s parliament said.
