23rd ordinary session of AU Summit in Algeria wraps up

The works of the 23rd Ordinary Session of the Summit of Heads of State and Government of the African Union wrapped up Friday afternoon in Malabo (Equatorial Guinea), in the presence of Prime Minister, Abdelmalek Sellal, Personal Representative of President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
Before they wrap up their works, participants addressed to the Algerian people, on behalf of President Bouteflika, a congratulatory message on the qualification of the national team in the 2nd round of the World Cup and for representing "worthily" and "brilliantly" the African continent.
The meeting of Malabo was also devoted to discussing the report on the activities of the AU Board of Peace and Security for the last six months and the overall situation in Africa.
Ambassador Smail Chergui, Commissioner for Peace and Security of the stressed "the progress achieved by African countries, as well as the remaining constraints and challenges to consolidate peace and security in Africa," an Algerian diplomatic source said in Malabo.
According to Ambassador of Algeria to Equatorial Guinea, Belounes, Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal discussed, for his part, issues of peace and security in Africa, and conveyed the message of President Bouteflika, who affirmed that "there can be no development without peace."
