
Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit asserted on Monday the importance of modifying the developmental track in the Arab region to pay more attention to the marginaized sectors and be more focused on youth and women to achieve social security and peace.
The internal and external challenges and conflicts witnessed in the region show that amending the developmental track is much needed, Abul Gheit said in a word read out on his behalf be by AL Deputy Secretary General Ahmad Bin Hali in a meeting on sustainable development in the Arab countries on Monday.
The AL is working on a comprehensive initiative that includes a plan for sustainable development, Abul Gheit said.
The two-day meeting will discuss a number of items on establishing an Arab mechanism for sustainable development.
