African leaders hail President Bouteflikas' efforts

Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal said Friday in Malabo that most of African leaders have hailed the efforts of President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika to restore peace and security in Africa.
"Most of African leaders have hailed President Bouteflika's efforts to restore peace and security in Africa, particularly the peaceful initiatives in Mali, Libya and in other countries," said Sellal on the sidelines of the 23rd African Union Summit.
Algeria has played a "key" role in the reintegration of Egypt to the African Union (AU), he said.
The Premier underlined that the AU Summit, which wrapped up Friday, focused on agriculture, food security and security issues, adding that the participants also discussed the "activation of the African rapid response force."
"Algeria and other influent African countries, like South Africa and Chad, said that it's time that Africa handles its own security, through rapid response to address security problems in the continent in order to avoid the resort to other forces that can further destabilize the continent," said Sellal.
"Algeria has strongly supported this proposal, which requires the mobilization of logistic means and training," underlined the Prime minister, who said to be confident in the capacity of this mechanism to restore security in Africa.
