
Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Abul Gheit discussed on Thursday with the new UNHCR Regional Representative Karim Atassi means of fostering bilateral relations.
In a press release, the AL said Atassi reviewed the UNHCR latest activities, plans and programs in the Arab region especially after the refugees’ crises facing a number of Arab countries including Syria.
Meanwhile, Abul Gheit hailed the UNHCR efforts in dealing with the Arab refugees’ various needs and called for meeting their needs.
They also asserted the importance of signing a memorandum of understanding in the coming period that aims to enhance cooperation and coordination between the two organizations.
