Egypt's Court of Cassation overturned at its session on Tuesday rulings handed down against 22 Muslim Brotherhood defendants including ousted president Mohamed Morsi and former Muslim Brotherhood supreme guide Mohamed Badie in the case that involves accusations of espionage with foreign parties and organizations.
The court also ordered the retrial of the defendants by a Cairo Criminal Court circuit other than the one that issued the previous sentences.
Earlier, Cairo Criminal Court handed down death and imprisonment sentences to the defenders over charges of leaking classified documents on Egypt's national security and the Armed Forces to foreign parties and organizations, as well as collaborating with Jihadist organizations inside and outside Egypt to carry out terrorist operations in the country.
