As a reflection of the world class medical services delivered to the public, Dubai Health Authority, DHA, hospitals and health centre received their renewed international accreditation for the fourth time.
Latifa Hospital, Dubai Hospital and Rashid Hospital earned the Joint Commission International’s Gold Seal of Approval for Hospital Accreditation, and Thalassemia Centre earned the Joint Commission International’s (JCIs) Gold Seal of Approval for Ambulatory Care Accreditation for the fourth time.
Also, the Airport Medical Centre earned the JCI’s Gold Seal of Approval for Ambulatory Care Accreditation for the third time. The hospitals and health centres received the accreditation for demonstrating continuous compliance with JCI’s internationally recognised standards.
The hospitals and health centres underwent a rigorous on-site survey to qualify for the reaccreditation. During the survey, a team of Joint Commission International expert surveyors evaluated compliance with hospital standards in a variety of areas, including in meeting the International Patient Safety Goals, patient assessment and care, anaesthesia and surgical care, medication management, patient and family education, quality improvement, infection prevention and control, governance and leadership, facility management, staff qualifications and education, and information management.
Humaid Al Qatami, Chairman of the Board and Director-General of the DHA, said that this achievement reflects the Authority’s commitment to fulfil the vision of Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to ensure that all hospitals in Dubai are internationally accredited.
Presently, 80 per cent of all hospitals in Dubai have international accreditations, while the remaining are in the process of obtaining accreditation.
Al Qatami noted, "Health care is an ever-evolving field and it is important to not only meet high-quality standards, but also to raise the bar and exceed them, in line with continuous developments in the medical field. International accreditations help hospitals benchmark themselves so that they continue to provide high quality and excellent services in an ever-evolving health care environment. The re-accreditations that the DHA’s health facilities have received reflect our commitment to provide excellent health care services, while ensuring patient safety."
