Dubai Municipality observed the UAE Commemoration Day on Wednesday, the national event to pay tribute to the brave soldiers who gave their lives for the country.
A moment of silence was observed by officials and employees, who had gathered to offer prayer for the soul of martyrs. The UAE flag was raised high in the sky as the national anthem was played.
On the occasion, Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director-General of the Municipality, said that the event comes in implementation of the orders of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to observe the commemoration day in honour and recognition of the sacrifices, loyalty and commitment of the sons of the soil, the martyrs who gave their lives while performing their duties at home and abroad in all fields and at all levels to keep the nation's flag fly high.
"This is a noble message, which should be disseminated to current and future generations, as to what it means to love the country, so that they draw inspiration to set the greatest and noblest examples of sacrifice and answer the call for the sake of this beloved country and to remain within their principles and values," said Lootah.
