The Emirates Diplomatic Academy, EDA, today observed the Commemoration Day to honour nation’s fallen heroes praising their gallantry, fortitude and heroism.
The staff, faculty and students joined by employees from Abu Dhabi Accountability Authority, assembled at the Academy's garden for a minute of silent prayer at 11:30 a.m., followed by the hoisting of the national flag and playing of the national anthem.
Speaking on the occasion, Omar Al Bitar, Vice-President of the EDA said, "We are gathered here today to remember the sacrifices of our brothers and sisters who have given their lives for the country. We owe them a great deal. These martyrs seek no admiration or adoration, they seek a better tomorrow. Diplomats and soldiers are wholeheartedly committed to their country’s prosperity.
"As diplomats your approach differs; you learn the art of diplomacy, negotiation, connectivity and opportunity; you are the UAE’s international advocate, face, expert and representative and work hand in hand with our country’s great institutions, including our armed forces. Embrace this responsibility and never forget how far we’ve come and how much more we can attain," he added.
