
Kuwait permanent delegate to the Arab League Ahmed Abdel Rahman al Bakr called for responding to calls to hold an urgent meeting of the United Nations Security Council on to discuss the crisis in Aleppo, where Syrian regime forces are making rapid advances into opposition-held areas.
Speaking at the opening session of the AL Council meeting on Thursday at the permanent delegates' level, Bakr said that Kuwait is following up with great concern the latest developments in Aleppo.
He further urged the international community, represented in the UNSC, to bear its responsibility in ending the hostilities in Aleppo and to allow humanitarian aid to get through unhindered.
He also urged the international community to respond to the efforts exerted by Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar and Turkey to hold an emergency meeting for the UNSC to discuss the situation in Syria.
