
The Ministry of Finance joined the nation in observing the Commemoration Day today, paying tribute to country's martyrs in honour of their sacrifice for the future of the nation.
Obaid Humaid Al Tayer, Minister of State for Financial Affairs along with other ministry officials and employees observed a moment of silence at 11:30 a.m., after which the UAE flag was raised followed by the national anthem.
Speaking on the occasion, Al Tayer said, "Honouring the nation’s martyrs falls in line with our commitment to make sacrifices to defend the principles and values instilled in us by our founding father the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Our martyrs made great sacrifices and gave their lives for the country, they will be forever remembered as a symbol of the unity that prevails in the spirit of the UAE’s land."
A delegation of the ministry headed by Younis Haji Al Khoori, Under-Secretary, along with Musabah Al Suwaidi, Under-Secretary for Support Services Sector and Ali Sharfi, Head of Budget Department, visited the families of the martyrs Mohammed Ali Hassan Al Hosani and Khalil Ibrahim Juma’a Abdullah Al Marzooqi amongst others. Al Khoori stressed the bravery and sacrifices of the martyrs which will remain in the hearts of people and in country’s history.
