Prime Minister Sherif Ismail held a meeting on Sunday in the presence of the finance and supply ministers and a number of officials to discuss Egypt's stock of basic commodities.
They tackled measures taken to implement a state plan to secure basic commodities for six months to come.
The meeting took up an operation to revise the database of the ration card system, said Cabinet spokesman Ashraf Sultan.
Ismail pressed for quickly updating the database to add eligible newborns and delist the dead and expats, Sultan added.
Citizens are urged to submit updated applications to the various supply offices before January 1, 2017, he noted.
