The Interior Ministry said on Monday that security forces arrested three suspects who were believed to be involved in carrying out armed robbery of some cars and kidnapping people on board for ransoms.
The latest incident of such crimes occurred in Al Shorouk city in Cairo when gunmen fired at a car, wounding a man and killing his daughter, the ministry said in a statement.
A police officer on his car was also wounded in the attack after he exchanged fire with the armed men, it added.
In a separate incident, criminals kidnapped a man while he was stopping with his car in the 10th of Ramadan city. He was later released after a ransom was paid to the kidnapper, the statement said.
One of the arrested criminals had been sentenced to life in prison in absentia in two crimes, it added.
Police are searching for three others involved in such incidents, it said.
