Zagazig Criminal Court on Thursday sentenced a police lieutenant colonel and nine associates to five years in prison over charges of forgery, issuing driving licences for stolen cars, profiteering and squandering public funds.
The court's decision also included sentencing three staffers at the traffic department to one-year imprisonment in addition to sacking them, along with the officer.
In November 2015, security forces arrested the defendants and referred them to the public prosecution.
The prosecution accused them of profiteering, forgery and issuing driving licences for stolen cars. It later referred them to Zagazig Criminal Court.
