Shoubra el Kheima prosecution on Thursday launched an investigation into an attempt to break into Shoubra el Kheima police station’s jail in Qalubiya governorate.
Security forces foiled on Wednesday evening a jailbreak attempt at the police station.
The investigations found that the jail’s doors and windows were broken as well as the aftereffects of fire. The prosecution ordered to estimate the losses and damage.
The prosecution also ordered to hear the testimonies of the police station’s personnel and also ordered the forensic department to investigate the incident and bring the defendants to law.
A number of the prisoners were deported after inciting their colleagues to escape from the police station’s jail, a security source at Qalubiya Security Directorate said, adding that calm has prevailed in the police station after the incident.
Earlier, some prisoners set fire to blankets inside a prison cell at the police station but security forces managed to control the situation and put out the fire.
The incident occurred after a huge amount of narcotic pills were found inside the detention room.
