
The Roads and Transport Authority, RTA, Dubai, has signed an agreement with the German Deutsche Bahn AG for the establishment of a specialised mobility & transport centre, and sharing expertise in the rail and transport sectors.
Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the RTA, signed the agreement on behalf of RTA and Rodiger Grube, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Deutsche Bahn AG, signed it on behalf of the German Company. A host of CEOs and Directors of both parties attended the signing ceremony.
The agreement provided for establishing a mobility and transport center to run intensive training programs to qualify and upgrade the competency of managers and engineers in the rail and transport sectors at RTA with special emphasis on rail technologies and systems.
Deutsche Bahn will contribute to establishing a fully-fledged training centre at RTA such that it will be up-and-ready to hold the inaugural training course in the Q1 of 2017.
Al Tayer was delighted with the signing of the agreement with Deutsche Bahn, which is considered one of the biggest specialised companies in operating trains and railways in Europe. The Company operates the German rail network that extends more than 60, 000 kilometers with services including transportation of goods and passengers. The company also provides services to more than 130 countries worldwide and employs more than 300,000 staff.
Rodiger Grube commended the co-operative relationships between the two parties and stressed that the agreement availed the two parties’ access to knowledge & expertise as well as the world’s best practices, and the Company would look forward for further co-operation with RTA.
Deutsche Bahn has several subsidiary companies operating in three main sectors. The first sector is passenger transport in which two companies are operative; DB Regio AG, which operates passenger trains within Germany, and DB Fernverkehr AG, which operates long-distance trains across Europe.
