The Ministry of Interior has said it foiled a scheme by a number of the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood (MB) elements in the governorate of Menoufia.
A statement by the Ministry on Thursday said security agencies in the governorate arrested leading MB element Mohamed al Baalawi, the head of the media committee at the governorate during a meeting at a closed kindergarten owned by fugitive MB element Khaled el Leqani.
The statement said the arrest of the terrorist group members came after a tip-off on holding the meeting and was part of efforts by the security agencies to foil terrorist schemes aimed at destabilizing the country's security.
It added that eight elements of the group were arrested including four women where a room in the closed kindergarten was used as a photograph studio to send videos to MB channels abroad, pointing out that one of the arrested women claimed in a seized video that her detained husband was tortured in prison.
Legal procedures were taken against the arrested who were referred to the prosecution for investigations.
