
Al Azhar curriculums are based on pluralism and protect the Egyptians from being misled by extremist groups, Al Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed El Tayyeb said on Wednesday.
Tayyeb made the statements during a meeting with Immigration Minister Nabila Makram and a delegation of Egyptian youth abroad.
Al Azhar University plays an important role in propagating the moderate teachings of Islam, he noted.
The minister, for her part, thanked Tayyeb for his efforts to promote values of peace and tolerance in the world.
She also urged the Egyptian communities abroad to take information only from reliable sources.
