Col. Mohammad bin Saad Al-Sheimi, director of security patrols in Makkah, said the directorate will deploy all its officers during Ramadan.
He said there are five ways to report suspicious movements, the most important of which is using the “Kullna” (All of Us) application or the No. 911.
He said that Umrah pilgrims have been allocated special parking area, in addition to paths leading to and from the Grand Mosque. He added that the security plan took into consideration all neighborhoods, schemes and accommodations inside the central area, as well as the time of breaking fast and relative quiet.
The plan depends on basic pillars, including maintaining security in residential areas, parking areas and places that witness heavy pedestrian movement, especially in the central area.
“Some people might try to exploit the situation in crowded areas to steal from Umrah pilgrims, which is why we provide undercover teams to patrol these areas.” He said there is a special plan for security patrols during Ramadan in addition to the main plan that employs pedestrian patrols and motorbike patrols.
Al-Sheimi said police posts have been set up in central locations to deal with inquiries of worshippers in addition to offering other services. Each center has been provided with computers and tablets that have been provided with chips that have maps to guide the lost.
