
As part of its contribution to societal partnership and charitable work, the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs & Urban Planning participated in the yearly Walk-A-Thon organized by the Bahrain Cancer Society, which took place in Seef District and attracted a wide civil participation.
The Communications Directorate of the Ministry advertised for the event through sending out encouraging ads internally at the Ministry and displaying a variety of items for sale such as T-shirts. The initiative was highly welcomed by the Ministry’s staff, who generously participated in the donation.
The Walk-A-Thon was attended by HE the Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs & Urban Planning Eng. Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf, a number of staff from the Ministry, members of the Bahrain Cancer Society and the public. Members of the society introduced the congregation to the importance of early cancer check-up. Also, the Works Ministry presented their donations to the society.
Chairman of the Bahrain Cancer Society Dr. Abdul Rahman Fakhro delivered a lecture at the Ministry on the disease and early check-ups. The lecture received a very positive reaction from the Ministry’s staff.
