At least one person was dead and several others remained missing after a boat overturned off Malaysia, local media reported Friday. The boat carrying 35 Indonesians who worked in Malaysia without legal permit, suffered a malfunction in the engine before overturned due to strong wave on early Thursday. A total of 28 passengers were saved by a tanker nearly 12 hours later at sea off Malaysia's southern Johor state. They were believed to be on a trip back home to Indonesia for the fasting month of Ramadan. Maritime Enforcement Agency official Mustapa Kamal Abas was quoted as saying that a saved female passenger was found unconscious before confirmed dead later. He said the authorities are searching for seven passengers who believed to be missing.
