
One police officer was killed and 15 people were injured in a series of explosions in southern Thailand on Tuesday. Four victims are in critical condition. Local police said roadside explosives planted in the provinces of Pattani and Narathiwat had been remorely set off through mobile phones. Policemen, military personnel, and six civilians are among the wounded. Law-enforcement bodies suspect separatists to be behind the bombings. Over 5,500 people have already been killed in the guerilla war waged by separatists over the last decade. In the Muslim south of Thailand, separatists movements in the provinces of Pattani, Narathiwat and Yala are seeking to secede from the kingdom.
