One soldier was killed on Thursday in clashes with the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants in the eastern province of Bingol, Dogan News Agency reported.
The clashes erupted in Bingol's Genc district between security forces and PKK militants, during which a soldier was killed after stepping on a mine laid by PKK. The clashes are reportedly continuing in the area.
According to the report from Anadolu Agency, at least 34 security personnel and 12 civilians, including an Iranian national, were killed, and 132 people including three Iranians were injured in such attacks since July 7.
Tensions between the PKK and Turkish security forces have been increasing since an Islamic State (IS) suicide bombing killed 32 and injured 104 in July in the Sanliurfa province bordering Syria.
According to a recent statement by the Turkish prime minister's office, Turkish security forces have detained over 1,300 individuals with suspected ties to IS, PKK and leftist groups.
