Ten Colombian soldiers were killed and three others wounded on Saturday in a second attack in as many days by rebels in the eastern Arauca department, said the army. The troops were in the middle of an exercise when the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) guerrillas launched the attack with explosive devices, according to the army. The injured soldiers were taken to medical centers in the region bordering Venezuela and are recovering well, said the army. This is the second attack that has hit the Colombian military in the past 48 hours. On Friday, FARC rebels killed 10 soldiers in a rural area in the southwestern department of Narino. Founded in 1964, FARC has been in conflict with the Colombian government for more than four decades.
