Rescuers were searching for possible survivors one day after 10 people were killed in a mine accident in eastern Indian, officials said Sunday. "Several local people scavenging for coal in a waste dump in the Basundhara mining area were trapped when rains led to a landslide," state-run Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd spokesman Dikken Mehra said, according to DPA. "We took out nine bodies on Saturday and six injured people, one of whom died," Mehra said. Rescue operations were called off late Saturday because of heavy rains but resumed Sundayin Sundergarh district of Orissa state. It was not clear how many people were trapped but some residents said estimated it could be between 15 to 25, Mehra added.
