At least 10 members of one Indonesian family were killed on Sunday, as their minivan spun out of control after colliding with a moving train and flipped over in a nearby rice field. The minivan packed with 14 people was passing through a railway crossing in Tasikmalaya city in West Java province, unaware of an oncoming train that slammed into it, police said. "The minivan was dragged over five to six metres and then rolled over into a rice field," Tasikmalaya city police official Suherman told AFP. "Seven people died on the spot, three died in hospital, while four others were in critical condition. They had injuries all over their bodies and the chances of survival are slim." Deadly accidents are common at Indonesia's poorly maintained level crossings, many of which are unmanned and unequipped with barriers.
