The Afghan police during operations in different parts of the country have killed 12 insurgents over the past 24 hours, a statement issued by the Afghan Interior Ministry on Saturday and carried by Pajwok Afghan News said. "Afghan National Police (ANP), backed by Army and Coalition Forces, have killed eight armed insurgents in two joint operations in surrounding areas of the Kandahar and Helmand provinces," the statement said. Two wounded insurgents were also captured by ANP and a handful of weapons were also discovered and seized by the police during the raids, it said. Four more insurgents were killed and one wounded on Friday when a group of militants came in contact with the Afghan local police and coalition patrol in Chamkani district of eastern Paktia province, it said.
