
At least 15 people were killed Monday when a truck crashed with a passenger minibus in Brazil's northern Minas Gerais state, police said. Seven others were injured in the crash which occurred at 6:30 a. m. local time (8:30 a.m. GMT), Highway Police said. Witnesses said the driver of the truck lost control of the vehicle and collided head-on into the minibus traveling in the opposite lane. The 15 killed were all passengers in the minibus. The truck driver was trapped but was rescued. The police said the accident took place in a downhill curve when it was raining. On Sunday, eight people were killed and eight others injured when a train carrying one ton of corn derailed due to high speed and crashed into four houses in Jardin Conceicao, in Sao Jose do Rio Preto, some 450 km away from Sao Paulo, the largest city in Brazil.
