16 Taliban militants killed, 10 detained in Afghanistan

At least 16 militants were killed and ten others were detained in joint operations launched by Afghan forces and the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan (ISAF) during the past twenty-four hours in different regions of the country. Afghanistan's Interior Ministry said in a statement today that Afghan forces carried out with ISAF several joint operations in Balkh, Kandahar, Zabul, Maidan, Radko, Logar, Paktika, Paktia, Helmand killing 16 Taliban militants, wounding two others and arresting ten others. The statement added that the security forces seized large quantities of heavy and light weapons, homemade explosives and dismantled various types of mines.   The statement did not mention about any casualties among the security forces.
