Seventeen people were confirmed dead and 45 others injured in the Sunday explosion in Russia's Volgograd railway station, the Health Ministry said Monday. "A total of 62 people were afflicted by the explosion, 14 of them died at the scene and three died later in a hospital," the ministry's press service told reporters. It said 30 people were hospitalized in the southern city, with eight receiving out-patient treatment and seven flown to Moscow medical institutions. In the same city, 15 people, including a one-year-old infant, were killed in a trolley bus explosion Monday morning, the Interfax news agency said. Russian Investigation Committee spokesman Vladimir Markin said the fresh explosion could also be a terror attack, resembling the Sunday one and another in October that left seven dead.
