A Minnesota boy whose younger brothers died when a sailboat piloted by their father capsized in a frigid lake clung to life Sunday, officials said. Isaiah Risland was hospitalized in Minneapolis. There had been no update on his condition since he was listed as critical Saturday, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported. His brothers, Jacob, 2 and Zech, 6, died of hypothermia Friday when they were tossed into the 40-degree water of Clearwater Lake in northern Minnesota along with Isaiah and their father, Dan Risland, 31, of Leonard. All four were wearing life jackets but the wind and waves kept the father from getting them to shore, the newspaper said. "He told the oldest one to watch his brothers, and he swam to shore to get help," Clearwater County Sheriff Mike Erickson said. Risland had just recently purchased the sailboat.
