Two people were confirmed dead and five were missing after a boat capsized in a reservoir in southwest China's Guizhou Province Tuesday afternoon, the local government said.
The boat, carrying nine people, was traveling from Zhijin to Qianxi County in Hongjiadu Reservoir in Bijie City when it capsized and sank near its destination at around 3 p.m., the city government said in a press release.
As of 9 p.m., only two people had been saved and are in the hospital.
Rescuers retrieved two dead bodies and are still searching for the five missing people.
The cause of the accident is under investigation. No gales or rainstorms were reported in Bijie city Tuesday, according to weather reports from the local meteorological bureau.
